Historic Information

The necessary closures and restrictions to parts of the academic campus have been extended until Wednesday, August 2, at 3 a.m.

The restrictions outlined below apply to all staff, students, contractors and external providers attempting to access or make deliveries.The restrictions are as follows:

Building closures

  • Building 16
  • Building 9
  • Building 19
  • Building 20
  • Building 12 (Library)
  • Building 1
  • Building 4
  • Campus Diner
  • All retail shops operating in the above closed buildings.

Please note Building 20 has been added to the closure list.

Campus Diner @ KRTP

Due to the Campus Diner closure, we are operating a Budget Meal option at KRTP from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day during the closure. There are shuttle buses from Building 18/Discovery Square bus stop. Details can be found here.

Impact to employees

Employees and contractors who work in these buildings should coordinate with their direct line manager regarding remote working arrangements. For any research infrastructure support relating to the closures, please reach out to RISP@kaust.edu.sa.

Parking

  • All parking at the Building 16 Plaza will remain closed.
  • All parking below Building 16 South Garage will be closed.
  • Building 16 North Garage parking will only be open to approved security personnel.

Staff coming to campus to work in buildings not listed in the closures are reminded to seek parking in alternate parts of the campus, such as the Research Park, Grand Mosque or Tamimi.

Work haul buses

Buses will continue their operations normally during the working week. The only change will be in the drop-off and pickup location at Building 16. The new location will be at Building 14 (instead of 16). The CSOB bus location remains unchanged.

Gate and road restrictions

  • The gates to the campus will remain open.
  • When the University is advised of a VIP delegation entering the campus, restrictions will be placed on the gates, however an all-campus communication will be issued to advise the community.
  • All roads leading to the academic campus and Unity Boulevard will remain closed.

Drones

  • The use of drones remains forbidden until Wednesday, August 2, at 3 a.m.
