Dear KAUST community,
It gives me great pleasure to announce the appointment of Emily Osborne as our new Chief Communications Officer (CCO), commencing early July, 2023.

Emily will work collaboratively with the executive, global partners, Kingdom officials and colleagues across KAUST to develop a clear vision for our future positioning and implement internal and external communications that will bring to life the values and success of our university to our stakeholders, globally.
Emily brings to KAUST extensive experience, a successful track record in higher education branding and communications, and exceptional leadership skills. She is currently the Chief Communications and Advancement Officer at the University of Wollongong (UOW), Australia.
With Emily’s leadership, her team at UOW has led the development of the University’s global brand and launched communications initiatives to increase awareness of UOW nationally and internationally. Through compelling, strategic storytelling, Emily and her team have increased the breadth and quality of social and traditional media coverage of research, campus life, and educational programs. They have also developed a greater sense of community that celebrates the accomplishments of UOW’s students, faculty, alumni and professional staff.
Additionally, Emily has established internal communications strategies that support the implementation of university strategy, institutional goals, and priorities, which is vital experience to bring to KAUST as we move towards implementing our next strategic plan.
Emily holds a Bachelor of Creative Arts (majoring in Graphic Design and New Media) and a Master of Commerce (Marketing) and leadership training from Columbia Business School and London Business School.
Emily is well-regarded for being a collaborative leader who welcomes diverse perspectives and fosters excellence and creativity. I am looking forward to the University benefiting from her experience.
Please join me in congratulating Emily on securing this critical role and welcoming her and her husband to the KAUST community.
Regards,
Tony F. Chan
KAUST President
